I am so in love with this technique....and I have been having such fun playing with my threads, bits and lace....
cutting it up and putting it back together in a different way...
so many ideas running through my mind....I had to start writing them down in my EEC journal to keep a record of my thoughts on this technique...and of course now that I have written in the journal I will need samples to go next to my thoughts on the subject....
which means more scrim play in the future just for the samples that I will need...:)
the bit above is one of my favorites...it looks like it has been quilted with all the puckering....so wonderful...sigh...
With this technique there is no limit to the creativity that is sparked by the project...which leads to more titivation's...and further exploration of the cloth...
sigh...such wonderful thread play going on here...french knots, bullion knots, more french knots...
loving how these little french knots speak to my heart....
loving the side view here...
A group of lovely knots and wrapped thread beckoning to me once again to pick up needle and thread...

Scrim and Titivations.....
I am now starting the most fun part of this piece...the titivations and adding of bing! A closeup of some bullion knots in a row...some thread wrapping, french knots and tiny yoyo's...
I am having so much fun with the scrim lace...I see much more of this in my future. Keep those needles and thread moving!

Lace Class....
I have been taking a lace class with Karen Ruane...if you have never been to her blog you should go take a visit. Be prepared to stay a while and look through her blog...she is a very prolific and talented lady...I absolutely love her work...this is my second class I have taken with her...I am loving it thus far and am creating a great piece of work for future generations...
Block #1 this one has lace, sheer organdy and more lace!
Block 1 closeup: I stitched the lines from the two different laces to create a wheel effect between the two. I love how the sheer organza changes colors depending on how the light hits it.
Block 2 is made up of laces, fabric and a lace yoke.
Block 3 has various laces and a small strip of the bridal lace off the gown I deconstructed for the lace and satin.
Block four has trims, lace, fabric and a vintage cuff. I have one more of the same cuff and the collar to match that will be used in later blocks.
Here are all the blocks laid out together. Wish the pic was better, but it was made during our week of rainy weather.
This is the start of the scrim:
This piece is about a 20x20 inch piece.
I am loving this technique of working with scrim.
More scrim with snippets added...
I just had to add a heart to this as all this cloth is being made in remembrance of my maternal gran.
My mind is whirling with all types of possibilities after taking this class...I am looking forward to expanding this project in the future...as this will be a long time project I will continue to post as I add more embellishment to these pieces as well as future ones...Again you should go visit with Karen here to see all of her lovely work...Keep those needles humming!

Catching up....
Can you ever really catch up on life? I have been so busy since I came back from my trip. A good busy, but busy to the point of distraction. I am way behind on posting on here as I just have not taken the time to post. So....today I am going to try and catch up with posting. First off I need to post about my stitch along project that was made for April. Had to let the battery charge, but first I had to find the charger, which took forever and a day to find. Finally it has charged and I have taken some much needed photos of items that I need to post about. This weeks posts will be about catching up on those. Today's pic is about my April project. This project was easy to make and I actually have a second one in the make even now. Aprils requirement was to make a little wall hanging from TTS patterns. I used all scraps for my little wall hanging and I think it turned out really well. I will be adding some bling to this I think before the Christmas holidays this year. I thought I could leave it plain and simple, but the more I look at it the more I want to add some bling. Anyhow, it was completed in time for the April deadline. While gone on my trip I also received my color swap while gone. Here is what I received and sent out. My partner was Katie, you can find her here. My color was purple and this is what Katie sent out to me. Thank you Katie, I love all of it.
And here is what I made for my swap partner Danette. Her color was red and I enjoyed making goodies for her.
More updates to come on tomorrow. Have a great evening and keep those needles busy.

Playing.....
with pincushions again...this is the newest one that I have made. I had to take it outside to take a pic as the red kept wanting to look orange in the indoor pics. I am enjoying the nice weather we are having today with plenty of sunshine.

A Prayer.....
Sending up a prayer for the Boston community and those involved in the bombing there today. May Gods' peace and comfort be upon those who were injured or killed in today's attack on those who were there for the Boston Marathon. My thoughts and prayers are with each family as they come to terms with this awful attack.

Pincushions arrived....
My pincushions from Terry have arrived and they are so wonderful! She made a bird on a stand and a quilt block one. They are now sitting with my collection and getting to know their shelf mates...I had such fun swapping with Terry...and they came wrapped in this lovely red fabric...the lighting was not good when I made this pic...
delivery confirmation says hers from me will arrive today...I will come back and post pics of the ones I made for her when she gets them open...
Edited: Here are the ones I made for Terry

Pincushions....
I have been in the pincushion making mood for a week now. I just finished this one on last night. How about a cup of hot chocolate...this is the cutest pin cushion and a really nice size...and so easy to make, the pattern can be found here I will be making more of these for the gift box. You can actually make a teabag to hang on the side, but I thought hot chocolate for this one. I can see these in all kinds of wonderful colors...below is a pic of a few pincushions in my collection...I have many more but thought I would show just a few of the ones close by....the little white jellyfish was made by Bliss for me...and I have more on the way from Terry as we just did a pincushion swap....:)

Lace.....
I was going through my stash of lace and such to see what I had that I could use in an up coming lace class with Karen...there is still time to sign up if you are interested...My sweetie bought me a really nice wedding dress to cut up for my crazy quilting. I have finally cut it all up and will be using some of the lace from it. I have tons of lace and lace motifs off the dress and I still have not cut up the bustle or the bodice and sleeves of the dress...organza and some crinkly organza...
Wedding dress lace...the train is about 11yds.....
More laces for class from the stash....
More wedding dress lace.....
I still need to cut up the bodice and bustle (no pic of the bustle and it is huge as well)
Below is scrim on the left and cheese cloth on right...the cheese cloth is doubled and still more open weave than the scrim...personally I would recomend that you get scrim if you are in the US and taking Karen's class and not the cheese cloth that you can get in the grocery store or at the craft stores...
Now to put this on my work table in a lace box until time for class. I don't think I need to buy anything as I have the fabric I need in my stash as well...just need to order my thread and I will be set....

Secret Sewing.....
I have been doing some secret sewing recently...Terry and I decided to do a swap of pincushions since we both collect them...I mailed them off today to Terry and thought I would do a sneak peek for her...they are winging their way through the postal system as we speak and will be landing in their new home soon.:) When they do I will be back with full pics of them.

Block A Day Challenge Results
Here are my BAD results for last week. I put together six more klosjes. I am still enjoying making these little blocks. No progress made on the afghan this week. I did more secret sewing so cannot show any of those projects. Last week was productive in a good way. This week has started off good as well.
Until next time,

FNWF...The Results
Well I did not get as much accomplished as I would have liked to on last night. I am pleased with my start though. I started work on my April stitch along and have the fabric cut and ready as well. I did work on a couple of projects that are secrets so I cannot show them yet. All in all I did finish two projects (can't show them) and started on the stitch along project. On the stitch along blocks I decided after looking at the ones who had already completed their projects not to to add the stitched border. It seems to get caught up in the seams as you add the fabric border making it look crowded. I hope to finish the stitching tonight and put the little hanging together. That is if I have enough time to sit and sew this evening.

Block A Day....
Well I did not get much done this past week on my blocks. I did prep more, but did not sew any together. I did add four more rows to the afghan. Not much to show this week as I did not get much accomplished. I did do some secret sewing, but cannot show that yet. Hopefully this week will be a better one in the sewing department. Hope each of you had a great Easter holiday.

Happy Easter
Wishing you a very happy Easter! May it be filled with lots of love and family as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ Jesus. For those who may not believe the way I do, I still wish you a happy and love filled day. May Gods' blessings of new life fill each home around the world and may the love of Jesus continue to fill the earth.
Happy Easter,

A Day To Spare....
This month for the stitch along that Chooky is hosting on the stitch-a-long blog, our project was this cute little pin cushion. Of course I took some liberty and just used a solid circle for the center top and bottom. The little squares were too fiddly at their size. I like how this little pin keep turned out.
