I have been super busy since my last post trying to get everything ready for the big move. I did not realize it had been so long since I had posted anything on the blog. So sorry about that. Hopefully my blog break is winding down and things will be back up and running again. Stitchy things! How I miss plying my needle and thread into wonderful fabric. The painting is almost complete. We finished the kitchen and dining room over last weekend. This week we are tackling the family room and then next week is the big move. Sage green and white in three rooms of he house and a beautiful gray for the family room with truffle for the overhead beams and trim. I love this color combo. Of course Bliss chose a deep purple for her room. The only room without fresh paint is ds room as he is going to put peg board on the walls for his guitars to hang. Hopefully I will have a bit of stitching to show soon. I will have lots of blog reading to catch up on as well. I do sneak peeks on insta gram everyday though, so not completely without peeks of lovely thread hitting fabric! Be back soon!

To be new home....
We made an offer on a house and it was accepted.
The yard is amazing and has so many flowering bushes.
The landscaping is a wonderful delight.
Filled with the most glorious blooms.
Of all colors and sizes.
These are but a few. There are pear trees, apple trees, plum trees, a fig tree, several red crab apple trees, cherry trees to name a few. And roses, which I dearly love. All this sits on three acres of beautiful property for us. The house is just as wonderful. Three beds, two full baths, large kitchen which is a must for me. It has double ovens that I love. A really nice dining room. And last but not least a big wood burning fireplace, not gas logs in the living room. I am so excited about our house. We should close in the next few weeks, until then I will be up to my eyes in packing boxes. Another lovely feature to the house is that it is just a short distance from my parents home. Off now to a cuppa and then back to filling those boxes.

Knife has been made for me by the Mr. The Mr. has taken to making knives over the past year and this is the second one for me. It is light weight and thin and is very sturdy. I am in love with it. I now will need to make a sheath for it and this one will be done. The blade is very sharp and hard even though it is lightweight and thin. The Mr. has done a really awesome job on this one and I am looking forward to having new ones to add to my collection. Although I do collect knives, they can all be used and are used when needed.

This month has truly flown by and I have not posted anything on the blog. I do apologize for that, but I have been really busy more on that at a later date. I have started a new slow cloth that I will be stitching on over the next few months. No deadlines. No pressure. Just something to stitch when I have a few spare moments. I am using white fabric along with some of the batik fabric that my son had gotten me. I really like the pop of color amongst all the white.
A large spool of para cord my dh bought...I cannot wait until he empties out the spool, so I can have it.
I have also been doing a bit of fussy cutting this month for two projects. One for me and one for a swap that I am in. More on both of these later, but I did want to post a sneak peek.
I also have three quilts ready to be quilted. I am thinking about hand quilting them, so will be a while before they are finished. I have also picked up my Natures Journey quilt again and am in the process of appliqueing those blocks as well. Hope to have pics of that soon. I was hoping to be able to share pics over the weekend, but have not had the time to take them yet. Will be back soon with updates and more about my secret project. Keep those needles stitching in the meantime.

I did enjoy my blog break and am ready for the new year of stitching and quilting. 2016 is the year to work from my stash. I am going to try and use some of my favorite fabrics in quilts for my home. Most will be simple in order to keep as much of the fabric as possible. Hey, they are some of my favs and that is why they have not been cut into. I have started with this simple quilt using two different lines by Kate Spain. The first layer cake has been cut, sewn and trimmed and is now waiting upon the second cake to be put to use. That will happen later today. All is ready, I just need to sit down at the machine and sew the blocks. Then I can put all the blocks together to make my first quilt of the year. Even the backing will come from my stash, hopefully...wish me luck. I will be back soon with the finished flimsy to show. I am thinking of hand quilting this one and maybe adding a bit of stitch to the centers as well. We shall see, decisions, decisions...Have a great day.

I found these beauties while out celebrating my birthday on last Friday. Two twin coverlets made with feed sack fabric centers and one vintage fabric quilt flimsy. All washed and ready for use. Well
the flimsy is waiting and ready to be quilted. I am going to be hand quilting this one. Undecided whether to use big stitch or just regular stitching on this one. Decisions, decisions....

I have thought long and hard before posting about this project. As anyone who reads my blog knows that I have a love/hate relationship with knitting. I wanted to try one more time for a sweater. I don't know what happened, but it seemed to have clicked this time. This is the first of four pieces for the sweater and it is coming along nicely. I am now at the decreasing stage for the sleeves on the back of the sweater. I hope in a few days to start on the front and then move on to the sleeves. I am so stoked about this project and hopefully it will be the first of many sweaters to come. I am using Lion Brand Wool Ease in Wheat for this one. Off for a cuppa now.

(don't know why the red is reading orange here)
I decided to start all over with my class design sheets. I had tried to use a different type of collage and there is nothing wrong with the first one I put together. It just was not what I really wanted to work with. Before class had started I wanted to use some of my gingham in my stash as I have loads of it sitting on the shelves. I have five yds of pink, three yellow and three or four yds of the red. As my project from the samples will be a wall hanging, I thought the gingham would suit really well and I would not have to go out and buy anything. I am now a very happy camper with this project and can proceed without a creative block. Sometimes our first ideas are truly the best ideas. Off to stitch a bit now on a wip of the applique variety. I am way behind.

I have added five more stars for my quilt, bringing the total up to 26 so far. I really need to buckle down and work on this in the evenings if I want to finish this sometime in the next year. To my credit though, this has been a slow work in progress quilt. I only work on the stars when I take my parents to dr. appointments or have to go to the hospital to sit. I am thinking I want to work on it more now so I can get this one on the bed. Off for a cuppa and some domestic chores that needs to be taken care of. Have a great day and may your needles always have thread.

Natures Journey is being worked on today. Now that dd is at uni again, my mom recovered from her minor surgery and unexpected stay in the hospital and the oldest dd recovered from her surgery, I should be able to get these blocks knocked out soon. Prep work is done for two sets of blocks. Now off for a cuppa and some stitching time.

More little hexagons to go for this seam to be finished, then I can move on to another area to embellish. Still thinking on what else I will be doing for this. I also have a new book that I have wanted for ages and finally decided to buy it. It came today so I will be sitting with this wonderful book this evening for a closer look see. I browsed through early this morning, but I am looking forward to sitting and quietly looking through this book of techniques. I have been up for ages as my mom had a bit of surgery this morning and I am a bit tired. Now off for a cuppa and some quiet time.
